We hope you have already marked your calendars for the 2016 Annual Gathering on April 8-9, 2016. The Annual Gathering team has been hard at work planning theme, worship, special guest speakers, and of course the food!

Our theme for the 2016 Gathering will be "NEXT". As in, what's next? How do we vision mission for a church that continues to move forward into a world that is rapidly changing and creating new opportunities for growth and mission? We will ponder these questions through the wisdom of our featured speakers Rev. Dr. Michael Kinnamon and Rev. Bruce Barkhauer. In a special Friday pre-session, we will vision together with the help of the Mission Council, created following our General Assembly in 2015 that called our churches to put Mission First. We will worship together and remember what was, embrace what is, and look forward to what will be.

Here is the breaking news. Originally, the 2016 Annual Gathering was to be held at First Christian Church in Concord so that we could celebrate with them in their newly renovated space. As with all construction projects, there has been an unforeseen issue arise that will, unfortunately, prevent Concord from hosting this year. With this new development, Arden Christian Church in Sacramento has graciously offered to host again for 2016.

We will not change our registration fees this year and they are as follows:
Friday and Saturday Participation
(Includes 3 meals)
Adult:   $135
Youth:   $60
Child:   $20
Saturday Participation Only
(Includes 2 meals)
Adult:   $105
Youth:   $30
Child:   $10

We have again been able to work with the Hilton Arden West to procure a block of rooms that are comfortable and affordable ($99/night plus tax and room fees), as well as close in proximity to Arden. This is the same hotel that we enjoyed for Annual Gathering 2015. Please make your hotel arrangements on your own. If you find that the cost of the room is prohibitive, you may want to consider Extended Stay America with rooms that start at $69/night, however these rooms and the cost are not guaranteed.

With this news, we hope that you will register to come and vision what is "NEXT" for our Region and your local church. Registration forms are available by online or pick up a hard copy from your church office. To help us with planning, we request that your registration and payment be submitted by March 25, 2016.

Stay tuned for more information regarding the schedule, pre-session information, business meeting dockets, and other great information about Annual Gathering 2016. We hope to see YOU there!

Peace,
Your Annual Gathering Planning Team
Yearbook Reports

Every year, each congregation receives a report from the DOC Yearbook committee to review and return to the General Church to update the Yearbook. These reports went out last week to their respective churches. CCNC-N recommends that you submit your report online following the directions on the back of the enclosed packet, however, at this time, the online reporting systems is not ready. We ask that if you are submitting your report online, please wait till after January 11th to do so.

Anti-Racism Workshop Clarification

Regarding HBT requirements and the date of this seminar:
All clergy are required to take at least one boundary training per year. Basic Boundary Training (formally Boundary 101) is required every 3 years and is being offered this year on March 12th. This would fulfill a clergyperson's Boundary requirement for the year. Boundary 102 and 103 no longer exist; instead we plan to offer a broader range of topics.
The Anti-Racism Training is our alternative Boundary Training for the year for those who do not have to take the Basic Boundary Training. We are working towards having two alternative trainings a year.
In scheduling this workshop we recognize that it may be an awkward date due to Easter coming early this year, however, , the Rev. Sandhya Jha, from our Region, only had this date available.
Starts:1:00 PMFriday, February 5th, 2016
Ends:5:00 PMSaturday, February 6th, 2016
Location:TBD - Oakland area

We lift up these churches in prayer
We incorrectly reported that Arne Larson was interim pastor of Vacaville Christian Church, however, Jon Smith was called to serve as pastor on September 1, 2015. Here is what was supposed to printed:
For the week of January 10, 2016
For the week of January 17, 2016
Let us pray for their vitality, spiritual and numerical growth, their commitment to serving their neighborhood and their openness to the Spirit of God calling them into ministry in the 21st century. Please consider incorporating this congregation into your congregational prayers this week during worship or in your newsletter, so we can grow together in prayer.
