A Place to Find ...

About a year ago, I made a video for the Selma Church for National Back to Church Sunday (when Janet Chapman was still our pastor). I haven't shared it with the region as I had my other videos--although I don't know why...

I just watched it again right now, and I feel led to share it with you and the Region because of what I found with the Disciples and the CCNC-N (which was the basis of my video)...

This is my dream for our region and our denomination...where our sanctuaries are flooding with people of because of what we truly have to offer to those who are still seeking and who are unchurched...where all are welcome, no matter what....

I really hope you enjoy the video as much as I did making it in the wee hours of the morning...

Special Reconciliation Offering

In Matthew 5:23-24, NRSV Jesus says: "So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift." The assumption in the text is that Reconciliation is an urgent disposition. The scripture says, before you do anything in worship, before you worship Me with your gifts, be Reconciled. God created us to live harmonious lives with each other.

The annual Special Reconciliation Offering will be received September 27 and October 4. Your generous giving is needed now more than ever to increase efforts to promote conversation models for congregations to foster change. The last two annual gatherings have created opportunities to model conversations that move us towards reconciliation and justice.

2015 CCNC-N Elders' Conference
Wisdom, Tradition and Ritual

October 23-24, 2015
The Christian Church of Pacific Grove
442 Central Ave.
Pacific Grove, CA

"Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing. But we appeal to you, brothers and sisters, to respect those who labor among you, and have charge of you in the Lord and admonish you; esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves." (1 Thessalonians 5:11-13, NRSV)

This event is a time for those currently serving as elders in a DOC church to renew their understanding of what it means to be an Elder, to share wisdom and gain insight about the practice of Eldership, and to refresh themselves in the fellowship and communion of the regional church.

The event is free-of-charge thanks to the Regional Church, the Disciples Seminary Foundation and The Elders of The Christian Church of Pacific Grove. A lunch will be provided on Saturday, October 24.

All serving elders of Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations in Northern California-Nevada are invited to attend.
