UPCOMING REGIONAL EVENTS

161st Annual Gathering

It's getting closer!  Our time together in Sacramento is fast approaching!  Your Annual Gathering Planning Team is hard at work to make this Gathering one of the best yet!  Here are some things we would like to share with you to keep you updated:
  1. REgister, REgister, REgister!:  In order for there to be a gathering of resources and a time for renewal, we need to see you there!  If you have registered yet, take a minute right now to let us know you're coming.  There are so many ways to help you do this!  You can follow the link on the CCNC-N homepage to electronic registration.  You can join the Regional Office Facebook page (here's the link:  https://www.facebook.com/RO.CCNCN) and find information there, or you can ask your local pastor for a hard copy of the registration form.  We prefer that you register electronically if you can!  Look for sign up tables at the Women's Spring Revival and Toni Bynum's Installation.
  2. Okay, I registered, where do I stay when I'm in town?  There is a block of 50 rooms reserved at the Hilton Arden West (2200 Harvard St, Sacramento, CA 95815) (916) 922-4700.  A standard double room is $99/night.  Call the hotel, let them know that you're with The Christian Churches of Northern California/Nevada and they will make sure your comfortable!  The hotel is about 5 miles from Arden Christian Church and has many amenities for you to enjoy.  Check them out here.
  3. We Need You!  Do you have an amazing ministry that you want to share?  Do you have a talent that you want to teach people?  If you answered yes, we would love to talk with you about sharing these things in one of our Saturday afternoon workshops.  Contact Laura Pierson at (916) 425-3569 or frzzled@gmail.com to share your idea!
  4. Do you like technology?  We live in a media savvy world.  We hope to incorporate media throughout our weekend, and we are looking for a technologically talented individual who is willing to operate Powerpoint, video presentations, and be available to troubleshoot tech troubles.  If you're the one for the job, contact Laura Pierson.
We hope that you are looking forward to a REfreshing weekend that will allow you to REimagine your ministries, REconnect with friends from far and wide, and REmember our call as disciples.

Calling all Youth for Regional Gathering

Youth are a big priority at Regional Gathering this year - we want to see youth (6th - 12th grade) plus adult volunteers in Sacramento.  Some of the highlights this year for youth are a lock-in Friday night at First Christian in Sacramento, plus programming on Saturday morning and afternoon.   We have games, fun, fellowship, and discussion ready to go.

We need a few more adult volunteers to make this happen.  Volunteers can help out at the lock-in or at various stages of programming on Saturday.  Volunteers do not have to assist for the entirety of the weekend.  Please contact Katy Valentine at katyvalentine@me.com if you are available to help out.  All adult volunteers need to pass a background check, administered and paid for by the Region.

See all registration information and costs here.
Children at Regional Gathering

Calling all junior camp children for Regional Gathering!  Our junior campers (kindergarten - 5th grade) will have programming available on Saturday in a morning an afternoon session.  Children will have age appropriate programming that welcomes them as valuable members of the Region.  Be sure to get your children registered today so that we have a good head count of how many are attending.

We need some adult volunteers for children's programming.  This is a vital cohort in our Region, so please consider being present with the juniors to help welcome them to the regional event.  Contact Katy Valentine at katyvalentine@me.com if you are available to help out.  All adult volunteers need to pass a background check, administered and paid for by the Region.

Mission Trip to the Republic of Congo

CCNC-N Trip to Republic of the Congo

Good news! We finally have a date for sending a small group to visit with our brothers and sisters in the Republic of the Congo. For several years CCNC-N has had a partnership with the DOC churches in the ROC. Many of you may remember about 3 years ago we invited Rev. Ngoka, pastor of the DOC church in ROC, and his wife Gertrude, to spend 3 weeks with us visiting our churches, and attending Annual Gathering. Many of you visited with them, shared worship with them in your churches, hosted them in your homes, and became friends with them. Now, we have been invited to visit them.

The dates for our trip are June 18 - June 27, 2015. The information on requirements for those wanting to go and an application form are located  here. We do know the approximate cost per person will be between $4,500 and $5,000. We are planning on raising sufficient funds to have some scholarships available to help defray the cost for some who would like to go, but do not have the necessary resources. We are hoping all of you will become involved in this venture. Here are ways all churches and members can become involved:

  1. Donate money for gifts for the churches and groups we will be visiting and for scholarships to help defray the cost of the trip.
  2. Make or purchase a cloth for a communion table. These we can take with us in our suitcases.
  3. Purchase a couple of chalices with the DOC logo which we can take with us to give to at least a couple of the churches we visit.
  4. Read up on ROC and study about the country. We'll put some sources online.OC
  5. Pray for ROC and for those on the trip.

We on your planning team are excited by the possibilities of this trip and the ways it will strengthen our ties with our brothers and sisters in the ROC. Please join in this venture by becoming involved in some of the ways listed above.
