REFLECTIONS

John 1:29 - The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (NIV)

Rev. Kyung-Min Daniel Lee
As one who also celebrates his own Korean (-Americans) traditional New Year, allow me to share the New Year in Lunar Calendar. Yes, this year's Chinese, Asian, or Korean, however you want to label it, the Lunar New Year is the 19th of this month.  My mom told me that the Korean government shuts down 3 days to celebrate it.  Like the twelve signs  of the modern zodiac, the Chinese Zodiac is based on a twelve year cycle, each year in that cycle relate to an animal sign.  2015 is the Year of Ram/Sheep/Goat

So what is the significance of this year of Ram?  Well, let me talk about its strength and weakness.  A website described the strength as "tender, polite, filial, clever, and kind-hearted, have a special fondness for quiet living, and gentle and compassionate"  If you are the Year of Ram people, what do you think?  Are these reflect some or all of your characteristics?  On the other hand, the weakness seems more factual to me when it goes like this:  "....often worriers who are shy, pessimistic, moody, indecisive, over-sensitive, weak-willed and puzzled about life."

I want to confess that I become over-sensitive from time to time. Even though I wasn't born in the Year of Ram, I take things too personally, overanalyze the situation, feel pretty defensive, and become insecure.  I hate myself when I found myself over-sensitive, taken things too far in my mind, and ask myself why you are so sensitive.  Honestly, I don't know why. What about you?

I think we know this much.  We as Christians are sensitive and sensible because of the Lamb of God.  After the Lamb of God shed the precious blood for our redemption and after we confessed Jesus is the Son of the living God and Lord of all, we have come to the Light and become children of the Light.  We know that this Light allow us to see well, yes, much better than when we were in the darkness.  We become alive (spiritually) and sensitive to selves and others.  It is great that we are coming to our senses and care for others.  After all, are these not the way of what we are in for?  Then, why do we time to time have a surplus and become "over-sensitive" and for what?

At this moment, I have no explanation but suggestion.  I just printed out an image of the Lamb of God showing below.  I am going to post it where I can look at least once a day as an antidote to my over-sensitivity. If you think you become over-sensitive like me, let's look, the Lamb of God.  Happy New Year in the Lamb of God.
