Praise for God's Wonderful Works

From the lectionary, Psalm 111

Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
   in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord,
   studied by all who delight in them.
Full of honour and majesty is his work,
   and his righteousness endures for ever.
He has gained renown by his wonderful deeds;
   the Lord is gracious and merciful.
He provides food for those who fear him;
   he is ever mindful of his covenant.
He has shown his people the power of his works,
   in giving them the heritage of the nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
   all his precepts are trustworthy.
They are established for ever and ever,
   to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.
He sent redemption to his people;
   he has commanded his covenant for ever.
   Holy and awesome is his name.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
   all those who practise it have a good understanding.
   His praise endures for ever.
UPCOMING REGIONAL EVENTS

Announcing our CCNC-N XPLOR Ministry!

Our Region has moved forward into an exciting new area of ministry. XPLOR, sponsored by the National Benevolent Association, partners young adults from around the country with Disciples congregations and ministries, and the communities these congregations serve. These young adults, congregations and community service groups come together in challenging and nurturing relations that bring faith, daily life and community together in new ways.  XPLOR's leadership, which includes Ben Bohren, launched three sites in 2014-15. Four additional XPLOR sites will open in 2015-16, and, thanks to a generous and visionary grant from the congregation of First Christian Church San Lorenzo, our own region will be one of them!

Our CCNC-N (Golden Gate Area) Team members are Doral Main, Clarence Johnson, Kyung Min Daniel Lee, Marty Williams, Toni Bynum, Lanie Brandt, Don Stump, Sandhya Jha, Gerry Brague, David Sanderson, and Nancy McKee-Jolda.   The four CCNC-N churches serving as host congregations for the young adults are Forest Hill Christian, Mills Grove, Lafayette Christian and Walking Faith.

In their worship services Sunday, February 1, these people and congregations will consecrate themselves to serve XPLOR ministry, pledging themselves to work, prayer and commitment "with the help of God."  We of CCNC-N's  Golden Gate Area Team ask each congregation in our region to include us in your prayers during Feb 1 worship.  As we, with you, put our hearts, minds and spirits together, we will be standing on the strongest foundation for all this ministry will require of us.  In the grace of God, we of the GGA Team thank you.
