Please email enews@ccncn.org with any prayers you would like to make sure are included or continued next week and beyond. Particularly, please e-mail the names and addresses of new members so we can celebrate them here and also send them a letter of welcome from the region!

With a Grateful Heart:

To all of my Church Family of the Region, I certainly appreciate your heartfelt prayers for my son Harold II and grandson Harold III who are  doing so much better after that weird accident. My son is now in rehab-surprising the physicians, and grandson is enduring his fractured leg which limits his activity. Thank God for giving him life. Rehabilitation is working and he is determined to continue his life despite a missing foot and three fingers. My son is still so far at UC Davis Medical in Sacramento. Grandson in Oakland. We thank all for prayers sent and or given.  Blessings.  -- Rochon B. Hemmans, Mills Grove CC Oakland.

With a Prayerful Heart:

Voter Information

The California League of Women Voters provides excellent non-partisan resources for each election. Their guide on How To Evaluate Ballot Propositions can be found at https://cavotes.org/vote/elections/how-to-evaluate

As you know, many issues are difficult to determine due to the misleading ad. One of the best ways of determining the truth and who benefits most is by following the money. Voter's Edge is a website that summarizes what your vote means, financial effect, campaign arguments, campaign information, and Funding Info. Check the Funding Info to see who is bankrolling the campaigns for and against for insight into who really benefits at votersedge.org

We have created a chart comparing recommendations from several non-partisan groups and political parties you can download here: PropChart

Mary Jacobs Called to Week of Compassion

Week of Compassion has called the Rev. Mary Jacobs as interim resource development director. Jacobs comes to continue the important work begun by Johnny Wray in building the Circle of Compassion and the Week of Compassion Endowment Program with Disciples congregations. She is a third generation Disciple and ordained clergywoman.  She has served congregations in California and Arizona, including one new church start that she shared with her husband, Bill.  Jacobs has visited Church World Service's sustainable development program in Africa as well as living in Bossey, Switzerland at the Graduate Institute program of the World Council of Churches.  She has served in various capacities within the General Church and the Regions where she has been pastor, which included being First Vice-Moderator of the General Assembly and Moderator in Arizona.  She recently completed her ministry as the transitional interim regional minister in Northern California/Nevada and as the president of the International Disciples Women's Ministry. Jacobs will begin her new role on Nov. 1.
