ADVENT IS COMING...

Advent is coming, and something within us craves for such a time.  A season of anticipation and holy waiting.  A new year to begin again revealing the ancient love story of the Holy Desire that yearns for hearts ready to receive. I lift prayers for each of you as the season arrives. May you create enough holy space in your lives for Christmas to be born!

Where refugees seek deliverance that never comes
And the heart consumes itself as if it would live,
Where children age before their time
And life wears down the edges of the mind,
Where the old man sits with mind grown cold,
While bones and sinew, blood and cell, go slowly down to death,
Where fear companions each day's life,
And Perfect Love seems long delayed.
CHRISTMAS IS WAITING TO BE BORN:
In you, in me, in all (hu)mankind.

"Christmas Is Waiting to be Born" from The Mood of Christmas by Howard Thurman

"WAITING WITH HOPE": NEW ADVENT CIRCLES STUDY AVAILABLE FROM THE JUSTICE COMMISSION

Since 2008 the Regional Justice Commission has been learning how to facilitate and offer conversational processes to our congregations and regional groups.  We have trained over 30 individuals to be Circle facilitators, and have hosted several workshops and Circles of Inquiry at Annual Gathering and Circles of Healing for the "transition van" to introduce the region to the Circles of Peace model.  We are now hoping more and more congregations will begin exploring the use of Circles in their regular practice, and when exploring topics or decisions.  To help people become more familiar with Circles, the Justice Commission has prepared an Advent study, using the lectionary scriptures of Isaiah that we encourage congregations of the region to engage in starting Dec. 1.  It's a wonderful small group format that can be used for special meetings, or during Sunday School.  Please take a moment to go to the website and check out this wonderful resource.  We hope you will use this in your congregation and let us know how it went!
