NOTICE: Tree Work to Temporarily Close Parts of Capital Crescent Trail

 

Tree work is requiring portions of the Capital Crescent Trail to be temporarily closed daily. Trail users should use caution around work areas and use alternate routes.

  • Tuesday, August 4, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the trail will be closed between Bradley Boulevard and Little Falls Parkway.
  • Wednesday, August 5, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the trail will be closed between Little Falls Parkway and Dorset Avenue.

Montgomery County Planning Department Seeks Submissions to its First Annual Design Excellence Award Program by August 21

 

The Montgomery County Planning Department seeks to recognize exceptional work in architecture, landscape architecture and urban design through its first annual Design Excellence Award. Developers, property owners and their design teams are invited to submit built projects that contribute to improving the quality of physical environments throughout the County.

 

The deadline for submission is Friday, August 21, 2015. The selection of a winner will be made by an outside jury of accomplished professionals, including architects, urbanists and a landscape architect, invited by the Planning Department. Learn more here.

Planning Department Releases Public Hearing Draft of Montgomery Village Master Plan

 

The Montgomery County Planning Department has posted the Public Hearing Draft of the Montgomery Village Master Plan on the Department's web site. This posting follows the Montgomery County Planning Board's approval of the Working Draft of the Montgomery Village Master Plan on Thursday, July 23.

 

The online document allows Montgomery Village residents and business owners to review the latest draft of the Montgomery Village Master Plan before the public hearing for the Plan. The hearing will be held on Thursday, September 10 in the third floor hearing room of the Council Office Building located at 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, Maryland. Learn more here.

Underground Railroad Experience Trail

 

Free guided hikes on our Underground Railroad Trail are offered each Saturday, beginning at 9:00 am, through August 31, 2015. The Underground Railroad Experience Trail hike commemorates the involvement of county residents in the Underground Railroad and celebrates the Quaker heritage and traditions of Sandy Spring, MD.  More information can be found at UndergroundRRExperience.org.

Brookside Gardens Parking Update

Trail Sign Installation Project on Rock Creek Trail

 

Look for trail work on the 14 mile Rock Creek Hiker-Biker Trail as a Signage Installation Project begins. Work is scheduled from Rock Creek Regional Park- Lake Needwood to the DC Line to improve better wayfinding on trail and adjacent neighborhood trail connectors leading to main trail.
