The Montgomery County Planning Department will be hosting a series of Monday evening meetings in June for the Greater Lyttonsville community to attend and learn more about the planning process for the Greater Lyttonsville Sector Plan. 
Learn About Proposed "Ecodistrict" for Bethesda Downtown Plan
Proposed Ecodistrict information now available online, along with opportunity to give comments on framework concept, and take online visual preferences survey.

The community is invited to learn about the principles of an "ecodistrict" for incorporation into the Bethesda Downtown Plan. An ecodistrict integrates the goals of social, economic and environmental sustainability over a broader downtown area. These goals will play an important role in the crafting of sector plan recommendations and implementation strategies.

Learn about the proposed Bethesda Downtown Plan ecodistrict and give comments online.

Also, the deadline for the online survey has been extended. Residents are encouraged to take the online visual preference survey for the Bethesda Downtown Plan until June 6.

Montgomery Parks Seeks Proposals for Park Activity Buildings
A Request for Proposals has been issued for seven Park Activity Buildings located in Colesville Local Park, Ken-Gar Palisades Local Park, Maplewood-Alta Vista Local Park, Nolte Local Park, North Chevy Chase Local Park, Owens Local Park, and Stoneybrook Local Park.Proposals are due on June 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. For more information and to review the RFP, visit:

Volunteer Opportunities
Montgomery Parks is looking for both special event and long-term volunteers. Go to www.ParksVolunteers.org, click on Search and Apply for Volunteer Opportunities, then click on the category that interests you. Here are some examples of the opportunities we have open:
  • NNI Removal Events, Various locations and dates, help us rid the park trees of vines and other Non-Native Invasives that are taking over!
  • Tree Stewards, Various parks - commit to at least one year of quarterly park visits.  Help us keep an eye on our most valuable resource in parks, our trees!
  • Nature and Summer Camp Counselor Opportunities, Thinking about summer?  Here are some volunteer opportunities to help with that!
  • Hot Opportunities - these are the opportunities that we really need volunteers to fill soon! Check them out!
  • Trail Rangers and Trail Workdays - Train as a ranger, and go out on your own schedule, or sign up for one of our workdays!

Our online tool will make HOA organization email addresses available to web users seeking to notify residents about pending development or other issues. We rely on homeowners and civic organizations to help spread the word about development applications and planning initiatives. Homeowner's association leaders may want to update your organizational contact information to a generic '[email protected]' and update your contact information.
