The Montgomery County Planning Department is hosting a Winter Speakers series with a special emphasis on housing. The next event on Thursday, April 10 at 6 p.m. will feature speakers John Welsh, VP Multifamily Group, AHC Inc. and David Cristeal, Housing Director, Arlington County. The Montgomery County Planning Department will be hosting a community open house to receive feedback from residents, property owners and business owners on the most recent work on the Bethesda Downtown Plan. Residents, business owners and property owners are invited to attend the meeting on Thursday, April 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bethesda Regional Services Center (4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, Maryland 20814). RSVP's are encouraged but not required.

History of Silver Spring Hits Airwaves
| 
Tune in this Friday and Saturday as Montgomery Planning's Historic Preservation Planner Clare Kelly is interviewed on WAMU's (88.5 FM) Metro Connection segment about the history of Silver Spring. Jerry McCoy from the Silver Spring Historical Society will also be interviewed. The show will air Friday, April 4 on 88.5-3 at 8 p.m. with a rebroadcast on Saturday, April 5 at 7 a.m.

Planners have rewritten the Zoning Code to modernize antiquated, redundant zoning regulations and create new tools to help achieve goals in community plans.  Volunteer Opportunities Montgomery Parks is looking for both special event and long-term volunteers. Here are some examples of the opportunities we have open: - NNI Removal Events, Various locations and dates, help us rid the park trees of vines and other Non-Native Invasives that are taking over!
- Tree Stewards, Various parks - commit to at least one year of quarterly park visits. Help us keep an eye on our most valuable resource in parks, our trees!
- Earth Month! Various parks. April is Earth Month, and we are beginning to schedule several large park cleanups.

Community Organization Lists
Our online tool will make HOA organization email addresses available to web users seeking to notify residents about pending development or other issues. We rely on homeowners and civic organizations to help spread the word about development applications and planning initiatives. Homeowner's association leaders may want to update your organizational contact information to a generic 'mygroup@gmail.com' and update your contact information.
