Tour of Robert Llewellyn Wright House (1958)
|
Sunday April 6, 1:30 - 4p.m.
In partnership with AIA-Potomac Valley, the Historic Preservation office is presenting a tour of the Bethesda house that Frank Lloyd Wright designed for his sixth child, Robert Llewellyn Wright.
Exemplifying the last phase of Wright's work, the hemicyclical house design is based upon concentric and intersecting segments of a circle. The Robert Llewellyn Wright House is designated on the Montgomery County Master Plan for Historic Preservation, and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Construction of the house was begun in 1957 and completed the following year. The landscape plan is by Lloyd Wright, son of Frank Lloyd Wright. The tour will be conducted by Thomas Wright, Frank Lloyd Wright's grandson, whose family still owns the property.
To register, go to www.aiapv.org. Participants will gather at Seven Locks Elementary School at 1:30 p.m. for carpool to the site.
