President Stephen M. Drury
Letter from the President

Spring is here and we have several Loan Fund churches under construction.  We also have others that are remodeling & renovating, and some simply refinancing their current mortgages.  We are happy to report an increase in our investments, which now stand at $16.2 million, which is an increase of almost $1.2 million above last quarter. We have also closed 4 church loans this quarter for a total of 59 loans we have made to date.

Exciting reports are coming in every week from churches we have funded.  One church in Florida who received a loan from us was able to move their pastor into a full time position with the reduced costs of a lower rate on their loan.  The church has grown so much they are in the process of selling that facility and acquiring another.  In Texas one of our churches has grown so quickly that they are now adding an additional building even though they just closed their loan last year.

We are in need of new investments to accommodate the increase in church loan requests. We encourage present investors to consider the UPC Loan Fund when making investment choices and to also tell others about us. We find it exciting that we are not only able to provide a good return in today's market for those invested financially, but those same monies are indeed making a great impact on winning the lost souls who deserve to be saved.

Pastor Milligan & family with the Drurys
Breaking New Ground

We are proud to announce one of our newest construction projects, The Pentecostal Church of San Benito, Texas.  Loan Fund President Steve Drury was privileged to attend their Groundbreaking Service and Ceremony in February and we cannot wait to see what God has in store for this growing congregation.  They are pastored by Brother JC Milligan and his wife Diana, who have been ministering in the Rio Grande Valley for twenty-five years.  We recently asked Pastor Milligan to share with us some history about his church and their plans for expansion.

"Like any church, The Pentecostal Church had a very humble beginning.  The Pentecostal Church was founded by Pastor JC Milligan, his wife, Diana and two children, Chris and Anthony, in February 1990 as Abundant Life Tabernacle. It took much work and great faith to turn that small building on the corner of Stenger Street and Austin Street into the first sanctuary of Abundant Life Tabernacle.  In May 1997, Abundant Life Tabernacle underwent a name change to The Pentecostal Church and location change to the downtown corner of Sam Houston Street and Stenger Street and great growth and revival followed.  In 2003 The Pentecostal Church purchased three acres of land on Zillock Road and in April 2003 the Church In A Day program erected The Pentecostal Church of San Benito in thirty-six hours with the help of over two hundred volunteers from all over Texas!  In 2004 a Christian Education wing was added and God has been giving the increase ever since.

We are so excited to have been approved by the UPCI Loan Fund to begin building our New Sanctuary (60'x80' metal building) and expansion of our existing building in 2015.  This New Sanctuary (250-300 seats) is Phase One of a two phase plan that will eventually add another 60 feet to the building and bring our seating capacity up to 500-600.  The expansion to our existing building will facilitate the doubling of Sunday school rooms, bathrooms, and adding to church offices..."

Filling the House

"It was Thursday evening just prior to our midweek Bible study service at The Pentecostals Of York. My assistant pastor and I were in the pastor's study discussing the need for a larger facility.  As my assistant got up to walk out of the room I said, 'we need to start looking tomorrow for a building that will seat at least 500.'  That was in January of 2013 and as of October 2014, we are worshiping in our miracle building."

These are words from Pastor Jerry Tipton of the Pentecostals of York, Pennsylvania on the amazing journey to their new facilities.  Just a few days after having that discussion with his assistant pastor, the search was underway.  As part of this process, they visited with leaders of a church in York with a large campus but dwindling congregation. After prayer and much discussion, it was decided that the Pentecostals of York would begin renting the facility for their Sunday services in June of 2013.

As time went on, the other church continued to struggle to stay afloat, and their pastor began to consider retirement.  This presented an amazing opportunity for Pastor Tipton and his congregation. They could buy the property, which consists of 29 acres, a ranch house, and sanctuary that could seat 800 people comfortably.  The property appraised for $2.1 million, and included another $1 million in equipment as well.  But the POY family, with under 200 people, began to question how such an opportunity was to be financed.

The short answer is God all but gave it to us and the   UPCI Loan Fund partnered with us to make it        happen. We were able to purchase this property for    $738,000," says Brother Tipton.

The financing for new property was approved and the  loan was closed in October 2014.  The congregation  was even able to move into the new facility before  their old one sold.  Since the move the old property  and facility have been sold for $600,000!

"And now God will help us fill the house!"
