 65th Street Bowtie Construction Update
Hold on to your hard hats, Lincoln Square; the light at the end of the tunnel just got further.

Recently, during Third Water Tunnel construction on Columbus Avenue, specifically along Columbus Avenue from West 62nd to West 64th Streets, New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) workers encountered a leak from an older, existing water line. The DDC is continuing work on the area despite the leak, but the issue's severity may impact the timetable of construction in the neighborhood, as it will delay some work for the Department of Transportation's (DOT) 65th Street bowtie redesign. Work for the bowtie project is currently halted and will hopefully resume in the spring, however it is unclear whether or not the work will be completed by summer's end as DOT previously anticipated. As such, Lincoln Square may be in for a longer period of construction work.

Also, DOT will be undergoing interim traffic data collection to re-evaluate the benefit of the closure of the West 64th Street left turn from Broadway. In the meantime, despite neighborhood concerns, DOT will keep this safety benefit in place.

Please be safe as you pass through these various neighborhood construction areas. You can stay up-to-date on area DDC and DOT work by checking the news section of the Lincoln Square BID's website, where updates and advisories are routinely posted. And, you can click here to see the full plan outline from DOT regarding the bowtie redesign.
Stop by Amy's Bread Café Kiosk
Where can you find historical playscripts, grab a pastry and coffee, and enjoy a pleasant view of some of this great neighborhood's architecture and afternoon buzz? At our local Amy's Bread Café Kiosk, of course!

Collaborating with the New York Public Library, Amy's Bread Café Kiosk opened in the fall of 2015 within the Library for Performing Arts in the heart of Lincoln Center, bringing some great treats to a familiar, local spot.

The café kiosk at the Library for the Performing Arts offers a rotating selection of sweet and savory snacks like Chocoholic Twists, scones, sandwiches, hot soup, cupcakes, cookies and a full range of beverages. The kiosk occupies a sunny, comfortable café space on the first floor with
ample seating so guests can relax and linger with, say, a freshly brewed cup of coffee and a delicious Pistachio Croissant Twist!

So, the Upper West Side can now enjoy Amy's Bread seasonal treats closer to home; this month, the bakery will make Hot Cross Buns and Irish Soda Bread, the latter in both regular and whole wheat varieties.

The Amy's Bread Café Kiosk at the Library for Performing Arts is located at 40 Lincoln Center Plaza and is open Monday through Saturday, 10:30am - 5:30pm. You can access the café from the Library entrance on Lincoln Center's campus and from the Library entrance on Amsterdam Avenue. Visit them online at amysbread.com
