The summer programs should be up and running now. As we look ahead to this fall, we would like communities to celebrate Lights On Afterschool, which will be on October 17, 2013.

This event brings awareness to the importance of afterschool programs. To find additional information on how to plan your event, go to http://www.afterschoolalliance.org/loa.cfm.

Please let us know about special events you are organizing in your community. Please consider registering your event on the Afterschool Alliance website. As we work with policymakers and others interested in expanded learning opportunities, being able to cite the number of programs celebrating the benefits of afterschool becomes a great talking point. Last year we had over 70 programs registered. It would be great to reach 100 this year.

If you have questions or need ideas for an event, please contact any of us at the Kansas Enrichment Network.

STEM

Calling all STEM partners....

Do you offer science, technology, engineering, and/or math (STEM) activities in your program? Would you help us bring attention to the importance of STEM by displaying a Kansas STEM Stamp on your website, in your newsletter, or on other documents you distribute? Exposure to STEM activities is important for the future of Kansas. By 2018, Kansas will need to fill 80,000 STEM-related jobs. Help demonstrate your commitment to preparing our children and youth for their STEM-driven future.

Tell us about your program. We will add it to our virtual map, and send you a STEM Kansas Logo for you to display.

Follow this link to complete the form.
