From the studio of Sharon Crute...
Show season is here! I'm going into overdrive to prepare for travel and exhibits right through to November. I hope to see you at the track here in Saratoga this summer or on one of my planned road trips.
"Casting Shadows, 16"x20", oil on canvas

I took this photo reference last summer because, as you probably guessed, of the extraordinary
back lighting and resulting cast shadows. There was a bit of tweaking required - horses don't always show their best attributes to the camera. I toned down my colors in the tree as it was screaming green and added some color into the shadows. I'm pleased with the abstract feel of the resulting shapes.

An Admiring Tree, 8"x10, oil on panel, plein air

Managed to get outside to plein air paint finally. I won't show you the first attempt of the year, it's an ice breaker best kept facing the wall in the studio. Wandered over to Yaddo gardens and saw this  lovely statue recently uncovered from cold protection. When weather permits, there will be more statures on top of the pillars and lots of fountains spraying lots of water. I was pleased to get to paint this iconic scene before the waterworks begin.

Don't you just love the way the big tree seems to be spellbound by the seductive beauty of the ladies in marble, who about to come to life?
High Hope Steeplechase - May 22nd, gates open at 11am

I'm Kentucky bound! I'm determined to get to Lexington regardless of the weather. I'll be at the High Hope Steeplechase located in the Kentucky Horse Park on May 22nd (the day after the running of the Preakness). In addition to my booth of artwork and new sublimation products, I'll be conducting a drawing for a framed giclee reproduction of last year's program cover artwork painted by yours truly. It's free to enter so drop by and sign up if you're coming to the races. Frame generously provided by Fayette Gallery in Lexington.

Beekman Street Art Fair - June 12th, 10am-5pm

Visiting my old haunts at the Historic Arts District on Beekman Street here in Saratoga Springs where my former gallery was located. This is the 4th successful year and I'm honored to be invited to show alongside 50 artists and craftspeople. More info here.
I'm releasing my oil painting "Assistant Starters" as a new giclee reproduction on stretched canvas. The entire surface is hand-embellished with dimensional brushstrokes exclusively by me (control freak, I could never let someone else do this). Size is 24"x36" and it's only $400. Click here or on the image to order yours now.

You're all truly a gift. An artist with both financial support and the moral support of loyal fans is one very blessed artist.
Thank you for helping me continue to paint,
Sharon
