This has been a very exciting year of growth and accomplishment for Xela AID! We are writing to ask you to include the children and families Xela AID serves in Guatemala's highlands on your Gift List this Holiday Season so that we may continue to provide and expand services. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters this past year, we:
  • Grew our Sponsorship program by 20% to nearly 100 children in school! 
  • Added an Educational Coordinator in Guatemala and added individualized counseling to improve the school performance of each child in our program
  • Provided two hot meals and 8 hours of instruction 5 days each week to 45 preschool children
  • Taught 19 women to read and write AND other skills through our expanded Women's Literacy Initiative
  • Graduated our first 20 Leaders in Action, the Class of 2013
  • Converted a small family's dangerous hovel into dignified, safe and healthy housing!
  • Provided micro-loans to launch two new micro-businesses and to expand an existing business 
  • Added computers to our laboratories in San Martín
  • Introduced another 53 people to the joy of serving others through our Volunteer Service program
  • Opened a small office where volunteers gather to serve as we continue to build a sustainable organization
  • Significantly grew the revenues of our Weaving Cooperative, helping weavers provide for their families
  • Provided life-saving medical care all year long to more than 380 families
    in San Martin Chiquito and surrounding areas...and much, much more!
By the end of 2013, Xela AID will have served more than 10,000 people in one of Guatemala's most underserved regions. Your Year-End Gift will provide critical funding for our Programs and Program Staff in Guatemala - including a Doctor, Teachers, and others. It will fund all clinic operations, including life-saving medicines to keep our students healthy and in school!
