Dear Friends,

We are pleased to report that our summer service trips spanning education, health, microbusiness development and our Dignified Housing project were a great success! We've put together a Facebook photo tour of the work done by each group that you can access after the brief introductions below. Thank you to all our service trip participants and our year-round supporters who make it possible for us to help our partners in Guatemala create better lives for themselves and their children. As always, many thanks to our Directors, Advisors and our Staff in Guatemala for their support and guidance, including our devoted and ever-present Director Luis Enrique de Le�n.

Summer Team #1 - "Utz Pin Pin Group"

This team shown at LAX kicked off the summer service trips. What does their chosen name mean? "Very, Very Good" in the Quich� language, of course. Summer Team #2 - "Group of Many Names"

This group never stayed in one place long enough to have a group photo taken! (Volunteer Bonnie Switack seen here surrounded by students). And, they had so many interests and defining characteristics that they couldn't settle on a single name--until this one. Thank you to volunteers Austin Jacoby, Jordan Klarenbeck, Jahnava Baldassarre, Isaura and Jason Capell, Sherry Robin, Bailey Smith, John and Bonnie Switack, Janet Taylor and Board Members Pat Maxwell and Mel Dinkel for traveling and/or preparing for this trip.

These 10 ladies (shown with trip Leader Cliff Hague) said it themselves: They had the best job of all the summer groups since they got to complete and hand over a home to two very appreciative new occupants. As part of their Alquifiestas microbusiness, Xela AID's Leaders in Action group is appearing in costume and being photographed with party goers. Donations of costumes in adult sizes would be greatly appreciated (used are fine), including princesses, superheros, vampires and other recognizable characters.
