SUMMER TRIPS REV UP!
Twenty participants of two of Xela AID's three service trips this summer gathered in Huntington Beach for orientation, and were up to their ankles in educational gift packs and tiny jackets -- thanks to volunteer Sherry Robin and Girl Scouts from St. Raphael School (below). Meet a few of the volunteers who will join us this year by checking out our Orientation Album.
WEAVERS ON THE MOVE
With Yaneth Gramajo joining Director Luis Enrique de León's Xela AID team in Guatemala to focus on building business
skills and marketing, Xela AID's weaving cooperative has moved into high gear! See what they've been up to in Pictures Here! (Click individual photos to see comments and add your own).
FINDING HER VOICE
Maria Luciana Perez Lopez, Xela AID's coordinator of the weaving cooperative Tesoros del Corazón, is speaking on Xela AID Radio to the local community about women's rights and participation in society. This is very exciting. Some of us remember when Luciana was shy and retiring. We are fortunate to have her on the Xela AID team. Luciana is pictured above in the "Xela AID Radio" studio. In a related album, see more Xela AID Radio Pictures.
RECENT SPONSORSHIPS
Andrea Yesica Gomez Ramirez is now sponsored by
Mary C. Ragan of Covington, Louisiana; and Maria Perez Gomez Lopez (at right), sponsored by Marilyn Wenzel. Northwood High School Spanish Club saved their nickels, dimes and pennies (literally!) and sponsored Brenda Roselia, and Yonathan Gomez. This brings Xela AID's total children sponsored and in school to 84! Thank you to these generous sponsors, and to our Board Member Pat Maxwell for her tireless efforts administering this important program!

XELA AID GETS A FACELIFT
Our logo has been refreshed, with thanks to
Joel Cinnamon of the
Claremont University Consortium, all design donated. Joel also completed a very nicely done brochure that will be of tremendous help in our outreach. Thank you Joel!
COSTUMES STILL NEEDED
Xela AID's Leaders group believe that there is a market for appearing in costume and being photographed with party goers. Donations of costumes in adult sizes would be greatly appreciated (used are fine), including princesses, superheros, vampires and other recognizable characters. Donate a costume and receive a gift-in-kind receipt for your tax deductible donation. To donate, contact Sue Rikalo at sue@xelaaid.org.
