From the President:

What a month February has been to see the awesome talent of Katy ISD students on display.

Our Katy ISD high schools wrapped-up their annual high school musical season this month and I hope you had the opportunity to see the performances that were simply fabulous! The ability to attend a first-class musical theater performance in any one of our high school Performing Arts Centers is reminiscent of the feeling of Broadway, only tons less expensive and much easier to get to. The enthusiasm of the audiences was contagious and the students responded with brilliant performances. I am expecting many Tommy Tune nominations for our outstanding actors, set designers, costume crews, orchestras, directors and overall performances. We truly are blessed to live in a community that supports the arts and values the creativity and talents of our students and staff. To all of those who had a part in the musicals this year - Bravo!

We also celebrated 70 years of the Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show and Rodeo. There is something about the sights, sounds - and yes, even the smells - of a rodeo that creates a festive atmosphere and brings a community together. To see the hard work and dedication our FFA students put into their animals and the pride they have as they show them is simply inspiring. Today's outstanding FFA program can be traced back to the work of the late L.D. Robinson, former Katy ISD teacher and founder of the Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show & Rodeo. He dreamed big and turned that dream into a legacy that continues to positively impact students' lives. What is refreshing to know is that L.D. Robinson's drive, passion, and innovation is the same culture that you still see today in classrooms throughout Katy ISD.

Regards,

Rebecca Fox, President

Katy ISD Board of Trustees
