Light a Spark
My dark past overshadowed the present and made me dread the future. My YES counselor helped me realize I can overcome the past and create a bright future. ~ Sarah, 18, a client and volunteer at YES
If you're a regular reader of this newsletter, you know the final message is my call to action. I'm changing it up just a bit this month, beginning with my "call" so in case your time is limited, you'll see this simple and important message:
As you plan your year-end giving, I hope you'll consider YES as a beneficiary. Your gift will ensure Sarah and all youth, regardless of their ability to pay, can overcome emotional distress, substance abuse and the effects of violence and bullying. When all kids are healthy, our community benefits.
You can donate online now to support uncompensated care and underfunded programs and services. Use gifts to YES in your work or family holiday gift exchange. Or, make your gift in memory or honor of a loved one. However you choose to give, know that I truly appreciate your consideration and generosity.
We at YES wish you and yours the happiest of holidays.
Sincerely,
Patti Skelton-McGougan
Executive Director

When Too Much ... Is Too Much!
Overindulging your kids can hinder their development
If you're like most parents, right about now you're ready for the holidays to be OVER. Your kids have been asking for the newest toys since advertisements started popping up in September and you've spent every spare moment waiting in line to make sure you get everything on their lists.
Wait. What? You're getting everything they've asked for?
After the holidays, indulge yourself in a FREE class at YES, titled Are You Doing too Much for Your Children? You'll learn ways to set limits on how much you give your children, whether it's attention, privileges, toys, etc., and how to empower your children by letting them do for themselves. This 60-minute class is on Tuesday, January 8, at 6:30PM. The class is free, but pre-registration is required. Call 425.747.4937 to reserve your seat.
Until then, learn more about overindulgence here. |
