June 2016
Hike, Bike or Ride: Take the 2016 Trails Challenge
Post your photos with #SonomaCountyParks #Trails Challenge to win trail gear
Join the 2016 Sonoma County Trails Challenge and see how far you can go in the Regional Parks. The Trails Challenge kicks off this Saturday, National Trails Day, with some new hikes, new prizes, and a new hiking-related reading list to make this summer an adventure for body and mind. Hike five or more routes featured in the redesigned Trails Challenge guidebook on your own, with family and friends, or as part of a guided Trails Challenge outing like the one Bill & Dave Hikes is leading Saturday, June 11, at North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park
Members Park Free at Sugarloaf, Jack London in June
Did you know you can visit Jack London and Sugarloaf Ridge state parks throughout June with your Regional Parks membership? It's a special offer to help you explore our neighbor parks in the beautiful Sonoma Valley. Plus, Sugarloaf on Saturday, June 11, is offering a shuttle service between it and Hood Mountain Regional Park. The "Sugar Shuttle" departs the Sugarloaf visitors center at the top of the hour and Hood's Pythian Road lot at the bottom of the hour.

Jump Onto the New Spring Lake Water Park
The Water Park at Spring Lake
Thanks to everyone who came out and splashed their way across the new Water Park at Spring Lake Regional Park over Memorial Day weekend. The swimming lagoon was brimming with more laughter and energy than we ever expected! The Water Park is open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. daily, so bring the kids for a weekday visit now that school's out and let them bounce themselves silly. (When it's time for a break, head down the beach to the Lakeside Grill.)

Sign Up for a No-Bummer Summer
Our summer camps at Spring Lake, Doran Beach and the Russian River are not your ordinary summer camps. Kids learn open-water rescue, surfing, stand-up paddling, kayaking, and earth science. Lucky campers at Spring Lake also get time on the new Water Park. Sign up soon because the few remaining spots are filling fast.
Are You Getting Funky on Fridays?
The Funky Fridays summer concert series is in full swing, benefiting the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation with live music on the lawn of the historic Hood Mansion. Join us this month for shows by the Pulsators, Hour of Tower, Soul Fuse and Second Line and more bands in July and August.
Give Dad the Parks for Father's Day
Father and son at Doran beach
Stumped for a decent Father's Day gift? How about giving a year of visits to Doran Beach, Taylor Mountain, Spring Lake, The Sea Ranch beaches and 50 other parks and trails? You can pick up a Regional Parks membership for Dad at REI, Oliver's Markets, Whole Foods and other participating stores and at Regional Parks' office in Santa Rosa. (Parks are a way-better gift than a Chewbacca mask. Trust us.)
