Lenten Project Focused on Refugees
|
Every year for Lent, Spiritual Life Council (SLC) selects a global social issue to address. This year, we will be raising awareness and collecting donations for refugees.
Why refugees? SLC decided to focus on refugees because it has been very visible in the media, yet most of us know very little about the topic. In order to learn more about the topic, four members of SLC attended a workshop with Catholic Charities of the East Bay to reflect on our Catholic tradition and teachings that uplift the dignity of all people, especially the most vulnerable.
How can you help?
- Donate a gently-used soft baby carrier (the kind with snaps and buckles, not slings and wraps). The baby carriers make the emergent travel much easier and safer. We will donate all the collected baby carriers to Carry the Future, who will distribute them on our behalf.
- Give cash. We will be raising money for Catholic Charities' work with resettling families in the Bay Area.
- Pray. It is our hope that the Carondelet Community will develop a new understanding of this terrible crisis and reach out in compassion to make a difference.

Saying Goodbye to Longtime Carondelet Educator John Cardoza
|
|
Longtime educator and former assistant principal John Cardoza passed away on January 17, 2016. In his 12 years at Carondelet, John taught hundreds, inspired dozens and touched the hearts of so many more. Please keep John's sister Rose and his niece Chaney in your prayers during this difficult time.
"Be good, play nice, don't fight, share your toys."
- John Cardoza
In an effort to help with John's medical bills, his family has created a gofundme page. His full obituary can be found here.

Calling All Graduates from the Classes of 1976, 1986, 1996, 2006 & 2011!
|
Your class reunion is just around the corner! Carondelet and De La Salle are working closely together to organize fun and memorable reunions for our alum. To make these events extra-special and personal, we need your help!
By becoming a member of your class reunion planning committee, you can help build enthusiasm, develop fun activities (like creating photo/memory boards), raise funds for your class reunion gift, meet new friends and reacquaint yourself with classmates, all while having a great time.
We understand that you lead a busy life and planning a major event like a reunion can be both exciting and overwhelming. A team effort among the two schools and these planning committees will help increase communication, ensure the events are organized, and result in the best of celebrations.
If you are interested in joining a reunion planning committee, or if you would like more information, please contact Jennifer Ortega, Director of Communications, 925.686.5353 x190 or [email protected].
