Falling in Love...With Speech Therapy

There was a single moment when I "fell in love" with being a therapist. I was in college, working with my very first patient. He was two years old and had very few words. I had been given family pictures to work with, so along with other words, I worked diligently on teaching him to say "Daddy." At the end of the semester, we had a family meeting to review the child's progress. I had never met his parents, but mom and dad were both in attendance.

Introducing Poker Night at Kid's Creek!
Thursday, February 11th
6:15-8:15pm
Ages 12 and up

Bring your son or daughter to Poker Night this Thursday at Kid's Creek! It is a fun opportunity for your child to meet new friends, socialize in a low pressure setting, learn new card games, and develop improved fine motor skills, bilateral coordination, and visual perceptual skills. The night will be facilitated by occupational therapist Charlie Johnson, who has more than 5 years of experience running social clubs in the Atlanta area.

All knowledge and skill levels are welcome! This is our first poker night event, so learning the basics of group card games will be the primary focus. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Tentative dates for future Poker Night club meetings are February 25, March 10, and March 24.

Please contact Charlie Johnson, OTR/L to register or with any questions via email at charliejohnson.ot@gmail.com or by phone at 404-326-0013. Cost is $50 per night or $180 for all 4 events.

Please consider donating needed items such as canned foods, hygiene products, boxed items such as cake mixes, snack foods, noodles, etc. Expired food items are welcome, as they will only be used for training on sorting and stacking and will not be consumed.
