A Season To Be Thankful

Count your many blessings, name them one by one...Our family is introducing a new tradition this year 1) in an attempt to teach our children about how truly blessed we are, and 2) to make ourselves (the adults) mindful that the daily trials and challenges of life look much smaller when you focus on the blessings. Each evening in November, we give each family member a few sticky notes and have them write one thing they are thankful for on a sticky note. We then take the sticky notes and place them on our bay window area in the kitchen. You can't help but see and ponder the notes daily.

Among my personal notes include many things related to Kid's Creek:

I'm thankful for the ability to touch children's lives in a meaningful way.

I'm thankful for a wonderful and talented staff, who seek the best in every day.

I'm thankful for the joys of hearing a child's first words, seeing their first steps, and watching them enjoy a swing for the first time.

I'm thankful for the families who have entrusted their child and their child's progress to us.

There are so many more blessings that I could count!

Now it's your turn!

Give away a hug, a thank you note, or make your own list of blessings to count. Make an effort to join me in focusing on the things in our lives that we are truly thankful for.

We at Kid's Creek wish you and your family a Blessed Thanksgiving Season!

Apraxia Training for Speech Therapists

Five of our speech therapists: Lisa McCall, Megan Raub, Holly Burkhardt, Jessie Nelson, and Melanie McGriff recently attended advanced apraxia therapy training. They attended the "Children Who Struggle To Speak: The Kaufman Speech To Language Protocol." They were all excited to be trained by Nancy Kaufman who is a leading expert in the field of apraxia of speech. Each of our speech therapists are excited about implementing the strategies and therapy techniques that they learned.
