Within 72 hours, the FBI conducted a sting which spanned 76 US cities, arresting 150 pimps, and rescuing 105 children who had been subject to abuse. These minors were all being forced into prostitution by their captors. "Child prostitution remains a persistent threat to children across America," said Ron Hosko, assistant director of the FBI's Criminal Investigative Division. "This operation serves as a reminder that these abhorrent crimes can happen anywhere..." This is excellent progress in our fight to end sex slavery!
Calling on Congress
Attorney General Pam Bondi today joined a bi-partisan national coalition of 49 attorneys general calling on Congress to amend the law to help fight prostitution and child sex trafficking. "By updating federal law, we can give prosecutors the tools they need to crack down on those who use technology to exploit children," stated Bondi. "I am committed to making Florida a zero-tolerance state for human trafficking..."Read more here.
