Dear Agency Director,

In order to maintain and build upon our partnership to provide food to our community, we are writing to highlight new and established policies at the Food Bank.  Included are updates about: submitting required reports, shopping at our warehouses, ordering turkeys for the coming holidays, and Hunger Walk 2014 updates.

Sincerely,
Aracely Aceves Lozano

Quarterly Reports

Quarterly Reports allow us to see how many people your agency serves in the community, which helps us to better serve you as an agency. The report form is made available on our website and is due at the end of each quarter. Reports need to be received by the Food bank no later than the 15th of the month after the end of the quarter (April 15th, July 15, October 15 and January 15th). In order to carry out this policy, agencies that do not turn in their quarterly reports in a timely manner will have their agency account placed on hold at both warehouses. This means that your agency will not be able to shop until your quarterly report has been received by the Food Bank. Please submit your completed 3rd Quarter Report no later than October 15th, 2014 to Aracely Aceves Lozano, Community Outreach Manager:

Shopping at the Warehouse

As noted in the Agency Handbook, all agencies that shop at the Food Bank warehouse must have an updated Authorized Shoppers List. Shoppers not listed, will NOT be permitted to shop. Any changes to the list must be submitted on your agency's letterhead. Please remember that shopping is done by appointment only anda maximum of two agency representatives can shop for your agency during the pre-scheduled one hour time slot. *New to Paso Warehouse: agency shoppers must sign-in inside the main office instead of at the check-out desk inside of the warehouse.

Effective October 6, 2014

Banana Box Shortage

Due to a shortage of banana boxes, Agency Shoppers will be required to bring their own bags, boxes, or containers to pick up the food sourced at both Food Bank warehouses.

Effective October 15, 2014
Thanksgiving Turkeys

The Food Bank Coalition of SLO County is happy to report that we have low-cost options available for Agencies interested in purchasing frozen turkeys for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. With the USDA estimating the current average price of frozen turkeys at $1.14/pound nationally, we're excited to be able to offer a much lower rate! The price of frozen turkeys at the Food Bank will be set at $.50/pound, with turkeys ranging between 12 - 16 pounds each. Due to excessive cost, hams will not be available this year.

To guarantee that your Agency has access to the number of turkeys you require for the Thanksgiving holiday, please notify our Community Outreach Manager, Aracely Aceves-Lozano, of the quantity you wish to purchase no later than November 21, 2014.

  • Please note that all turkeys will be allocated on a first-come, first serve basis, until they are sold out.
  • All agencies will be expected to pick-up their turkey orders by November 25, 2014
  • Turkeys not picked up by this date will be made available to other agencies.
  • After Thanksgiving, we will re-inventory all remaining turkeys and open a new reservation list for the Christmas holiday.
  • To place your order, please email [email protected] or call (805) 835-9924.

We look forward to partnering with each of you to help make the holiday season brighter for our neighbors county-wide!
