AYSA NEWS & NOTES:
 .
INSURANCE:
All players registered with AYSA are covered by a secondary insurance policy in the event of an injury.  This policy becomes primary should the athlete not have primary insurance.  If an injury occurs, first, complete an Injury Report Form (Link) within 30 days of the date of injury.  Next, complete and submit a Claims Form online (Link) within 30 days of the date of injury.  Note: The Injury Report Form MUST be complete and submitted prior to submitting an online claim form.
.
LIGHTNING:
The weather to start this season has been somewhat uncooperative.  As a result, there have been several instances of lightning present.  AYSA would like to remind everyone that we follow the policies and procedures for lightning as set-forth by the US Youth Soccer Association (Link).
.
CONCUSSION/HEAD INJURY:
Coaches and Team Managers, it is suggested to print the first page of the AYSA Return to Play Form (Link) and carry copies with you out to the field for training sessions and games.  If a head injury occurs during either of these two events, it must be completed/signed-off by an MD or DO (Only) and then submitted to AYSA.  Submission of the AYSA form is mandatory.
.
RED CARD SUSPENSIONS:
AYSA has a page on our website (Link) that outlines the policies and procedures when Red Cards have been issued or other behavior warrants a coach or players suspension from games.  This page also lists the names of any currently suspended players.
SUSPENSION LIST:
As a reminder, AYSA posts a suspension list each week of players who received red cards.  This list does NOT mention any player by name, rather only the ID number from their player pass.  This information can be found here (Link)

AYSA PARTNERS WITH SCOTTSDALE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Scottsdale Online Learning Program

Arizona Youth Soccer Association proudly announces its partnership with Scottsdale Unified School District - Scottsdale Online Learning (SOL) program. The partnership is intended to inform all high school aged kids in Arizona that they can complete their high school degree online, regardless of where they are in the world!

This means that young players who receive invitations to national or professional academies prior to completing high school can now "chase their dream" and complete their degree online with a laptop computer and internet connection.

Scottsdale Online Learning (SOL) was developed for Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) to provide more options for Scottsdale students and parents, plus to attract students from other areas to pursue a quality education with highly qualified teachers.  SOL's biggest purpose is to empower student choice.  Whether it be a personal preference or a sport, career direction or travel option, SOL students are given that flexibility.

Students can work anywhere in the world and learn at a high level through the curriculum at SOL.  Teachers are encouraged to set high standards for students, while being understanding of special schedules.  SOL intends to support well-rounded students who want to gain a quality education whilst pursuing interests that compel them to step outside the norm of traditional school...

BCC is more than just a Concussion Center

Happy Halloween!! As the weather starts to cool down here in Arizona, this is the time of year when coughs and sneezes start to be heard more commonly on the soccer fields. A flu shot is a very common method to combat serious illness, but it is also very misunderstood.  This month Banner Health explains what a flu shot is and how it can help us.

The influenza vaccine, commonly called a "flu shot," is the best way to protect against influenza, a very serious illness. Before each annual flu season, which typically spans from October to May, a vaccine is developed based on research that identifies which strains of influenza are anticipated for that year...

US YOUTH SOCCER
OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM COACHING MANUAL

The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program has contributed to the improvement of players, coaches, administrators and referees since its inception in 1977. No other high performance soccer program has such a long and deep history in growing the game in America. In 2014 we began a process with both the boys and girls programs of helping the players and coaches learn and execute the American style of play.

The contents of the accompanying Manual are derived from the information shared with us by the Youth National Teams of the USA to raise the level of performance for international competition. US Youth Soccer encourages all teams participating in high performance soccer to utilize the Manual to its fullest. By doing so clubs will raise their overall level of play and should, in time, produce more players and coaches capable of making their way farther along the pathway toward the Youth National Teams.

"GOING BACK TO THE FUTURE"
By: Randy Vogt

"Back to the Future 1" is my favorite movie of all time. Movie critic Roger Ebert even compared the movie to another classic, "It's a Wonderful Life," as the film shows the power of one individual to make a difference in the world.

An early scene from "Back to the Future 1" has Marty McFly eating dinner with his rather dysfunctional family in 1985. In a following scene, through the intercession of the local scientist, Doc Brown, Marty escapes from terrorists by hopping in Doc's DeLorean and accidentally going back to 1955. He meets his own mother as a teenager, who it turns out has the hots for him rather than his own father, George McFly...
