  AYSA would like to remind all clubs, coaches and players of a few important upcoming dates:

 

 

INJURY REPORTING (2013-14 SEASON):

All injury reports MUST be completed in full and submitted within 30 days of the date of any injury. There will be NO exceptions to this policy. This is a requirement in order for any subsequent medical claim form to be approved. NOTE:  Injury Report Foms are NOT the "Medical Claim Form".  Medial Claim forms can be found here  (Select Arizona Youth Soccer Association) and should be submitted seperately if needed.  Please contact the AYSA office with any questions.

 

ARIZONA PRESIDENTS CUP, PRESENTED BY SPORTS AUTHORITY:

Competition begins this weekend in Phoenix, Avondale and Tucson!  For more information and the schedule, please click here.  Good Luck to all teams participating!

 

ARIZONA STATE CUP REGISTRATION:

Registration for State Cup is now closed.  AYSA is now preparing the schedule.  Please look for this soon!  For more information on 2014 Arizona State Cup, please click here.   

 

 

COACHES UNITED AGAINST CANCER: 
 
AYSA and the St. Baldrick's Foundation recently partnered to host two "Coaches United Against Cancer" events in both Tempe (March 4th) and Tucson (March 5th). The goal was to have as many coaches as possible raise money in exchange for having their heads shaved. All proceeds were then donated to the STB Foundation to fight cancers that affect kids...

'96 BLACKHAWKS BURKE OFF TO NATIONALS... AGAIN!

 

Congratulations to the Scottsdale Soccer '96 Blackhawks Boys Burke team... The team has navigated their way thru the US Youth Soccer National League and have now qualified for the 2014 USYSA National Championships to be held July 21-27 in Germantown, Maryland! Congratulations to Coach Adam Burke and the entire team!

AYSA "COLLEGE NIGHT":
 
Created at the request of our membership, Arizona Youth Soccer Association is pleased to announce the formation of "College Nights". These events are designed to assist AYSA players who desire to attend college and continue their soccer playing careers. This courses will be led by AYSA Technical Director, Austin Daniels. They are simply designed to assist AYSA players who are seeking direction with the recruiting process...

US Soccer is pleased to offer you for the U.S. Men's National Team match against regional rival Mexico presented by AT&T on Wednesday, April 2 at University of Phoenix Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. Arizona Time (11 p.m. ET).

TUCSON SOCCER COMMUNITY COMING TOGETHER:
  
The "Gooter Foundation" has donated 50 AEDs to be placed in Tucson Police Squad cars last week and today donated an AED to the "Ann Kathryn Schmidt Kickin' It Clubhouse".  James Dean and Troy, paramedics with the Tucson Fire Department trained some 50 coaches with the Tucson Soccer Academy on proper CPR technique and the proper use of the AED.
  

  

  

TOPSOCCER WANTS YOU!:

 

AYSA is looking to expand our TOPSoccer Program.  If you know of anyone who is looking for an opportunity to participate, based on the criteria of the program, please have them contact Laila Modi (Scottsdale area), or Gary Fallon (North Phoenix). 

 

What is TOPSoccer?

TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community based program that is designed to meet the needs of children and young adults that have physical and/or intellectual disabilities.The program is geared towards player development rather than to competition .The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to anyone aged 5 and older, who has a mental or physical disability.
The basis of TOPSoccer is a modified version of the game of soccer, specifically altered to allow full participation and enjoyment for each athlete.
 
What are the program's benefits?
1. Development of motor skills and improved physical fitness.
2. Promotes social skills by teaching teamwork and cooperation
3. Provides safe participation and fair play.
4. Develops positive self-concepts through experiences in discipline, initiative and achievement, which encourage children to fully realize their potential.
5. To have FUN!
 
Who is eligible for TOPSoccer?
Any player aged 5 and older having a physical or mental disability that limits their ability to perform at the level of play they have chosen to participate. Emphasis of this program is on development, training, and providing meaningful participation rather than on competition.

The California Invitational is a competitive tournament in Bakersfield, California over Memorial Day weekend.  The tournament is hosted by the Central Cal Aztecs and managed by Premier Soccer Services.

PLAYING IN STRESSFUL MATCHES:

 

A youth coach wrote in with these comments and question:

 

"A few of the boys I coach in soccer (U13) tend to feel the stress when playing highly competitive games in Division I. Despite trying to reassure them and instill confidence, they tend to freeze up and not play fluidly. This causes them to make mistakes, which only makes the situation worse - they then further lose confidence in their abilities and the cycle continues..."

QUALIFICATION FOR 2014-15 NATIONAL LEAGUE INFO:
  
FRISCO, Texas (Feb. 11, 2014) - The US Youth Soccer National League has updated its qualification parameters to reflect changes in the US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues. In 2014-2015, teams will once again qualify for the league through success in the previous year's US Youth Soccer National League, US Youth Soccer Regional Premier Leagues and US Youth Soccer Regional Championships - integrating the most competitive US Youth Soccer club team programs.
