Orleans Parish School Board Superintendent Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr., made a presentation addressing his first 180 days as Superintendent on Tuesday, October 6th, in the Gymnasium of the new Mary Bethune Accelerated School, 2401 Humanity Street.
 
Dr. Lewis spoke of the progress made during his term thus far, as well as his outlook for the future of the school district. For each of the following areas, he stated goals, presented accomplishments and outlined next steps: 
  • Excellence in academic outcomes, financial and organizational operations
  • Choice which empowers families to access educational opportunities
  • Autonomy for schools and educators
  • Public engagement of stakeholders and school leaders
