The Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and its committees will hold their monthly meetings on Tuesday, April 14, and Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Claiborne Building, Room 1-100 (Louisiana Purchase Room), 1201 N. Third Street, Baton Rouge 70802.

Live streaming of the meetings, as well as archived videos of past meetings, can be accessed here.  
 
Meetings may be convened up to 30 minutes prior to the posted times in order to facilitate the orderly conduct of business. RSDigest has summarized the agendas of the meetings and provided links to back-up information. APRIL 14 COMMITTEE MEETINGS

 

Administration and Finance Committee - 11:00 a.m. 

  • Charter school issues
  • Policy related to RSD management issues
    • Revisions to existing BESE policies
      • Bulletin 126, Charter Schools and Bulletin 129, Recovery School District
        • Regarding return of school facilities from RSD to local school board
        • Outlines how facility returns when school operator returns
        • RSD could also transfer a facility to the local school board for use by the local school board, as permitted by law, without BESE approval
          • Empty, unused, or newly constructed school facility; or a facility with a closing school
        • BESE may approve an RSD Siting Agreement for a school controlled by a local school board  to operate in an RSD-controlled facility. 
          • Affects reassignment of operators for Wilson Charter School 
        • Also adjusts scheduling of RSD's annual budget process to align with BESE meeting schedule
