The Orleans Parish School Board held its monthly Board Business Meeting on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. in the Mack Spears Auditorium of McDonogh 35 High School, 1331 Kerlerec Street. Prior to the Meeting, the Board conducted a
Public Hearing on Policy Matters at 4:45 p.m. The Board's
Orleans Schools Facilities Foundation, Inc. conducted a meeting of its Board at 4:30 p.m.

  • Approved four resolutions to give consent for steps to generate an estimated $ 13 million in tax credits from four projects (names of campuses in 2005)

    • Recently assigned Reed HS campus by RSD
  • Appointment of Interim District #1 Board Member
    • Necessary by resignation of Ira Thomas
    • Thirteen persons applied for the interim position , nine of whom were being considered
      • Each of the nine was offered two minutes for a public statement
      • Seven applicants made brief statements
      • Two members of the public also made statements
    • OPSB failed to elect a replacement after three ballots
      • Each ballot had 3 votes for John Brown and 3 votes for Happy Johnson
    • If no one is elected by 10 days after vacancy occurs, appointment will be made by Governor
