- Scion of New Orleans will award a 2013 Scion to a randomly selected senior with perfect attendance for the school year
- This is the 6th year of the program to encourage commitment to one's work

- New Hynes School was named a "Project of Distinction - Outstanding Design - Architecture in Education" for the Education Design Showcase 12 in the June 2012 issue of School Planning & Management

- Annual contest for anti-bullying videos open to students in OPSB and RSD charter and direct-run schools
