Quote of the Month
Why do you go away?
So that you can come back.
So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.
Terry Pratchett
January 2015

This very special Vanishing Trails Expedition features living history, speakers, special events, authentic meals, Lewis & Clark interpretive centers, numerous historic sites, boat rides on the Missouri River, and much more!
2015 is the final year of the 150th Commemoration of the nation's Civil War. Throughout this time period we have offered a variety of interpretive programs which lend insight into the conflict and its causes. If you missed them, we still have two of the best for this year:
In December Frommer's selected South Dakota as one of their "Best Places to Go in 2015." The prestigious travel guidebooks series was founded in 1957 and also includes the website Frommers.com. For a full list of the Frommer's "Best Places to Go in 2015," click here.
of the northern plains on this Vanishing Trails Expedition. Follow Custer's 7th Cavalry as they marched out of Fort Abraham Lincoln and into the pages of history. Learn why Theodore Roosevelt proudly stated he would never have become president if it weren't for the time he spent in North Dakota. Learn more.
