Greetings!
Greetings from the Lewis & Clark Trail! It's not often that I can post a newsletter from the road, and I'm delighted to be able to highlight one of our signature programs that is experiencing a resurgence. We received half a dozen calls on this one after the deadline (one just a week before departure) which bodes well for the possibility of offering it again in 2014. Like to learn more? Check out our daily postings on Facebook.

In Development
A lot goes on behind the scenes here at Shebby Lee Tours that may not be apparent from our tour listings. Summer is prime season for writing proposals for custom groups, and an opportunity for me to stretch my design muscles. In the past few weeks I have designed three outside-the-classroom programs in Arizona and New Mexico for a private school, two different combined North and South Dakota programs, and a 12-day exploration of the great Southwest for the winter months. Although most of this custom work has very specific time frames and inclusions, the best of them have a way of showing up on our tour schedule sooner or later. Watch for new tour ideas coming to your mailbox soon!

Vote Results
Thanks to those who voted in last month's poll of itinerary suggestions. There was no clear winner, but for those who voted for the Oregon Trail, our Old West Trail, already scheduled for July 12-18, 2014, includes many Oregon Trail sites and a chance to walk in actual wagon ruts.
Here they are in the order of most votes:
Oregon Trail
El Camino Real (tied for 2nd)
Cherokee Nation Cultural Tour (tied for 2nd)
Southwest Canyonlands

ABA Insider
In case you missed it, my latest column for ABA's online Insider explores the affects of the ongoing Bakken Oil Field discovery in western North Dakota on tourism in the region. The economic impact is evident throughout the state, but the resulting shortage of hotel rooms, closures of top tourist attractions for renovations, and general overcrowding are producing unexpected results.
