My name is Jason Underwood. I'm a photographer and student filmmaker currently in UCF's BFA filmmaking program . I am directing "Half Awake", that films this coming Friday, Saturday and then the following Monday (April 1st). April 1st, we are filming in a classroom Kissimmee, FL.

"Half Awake" is the story of a boy who struggles between the realities of his waking life and the lure of intoxicating dreams. As he sleepwalks through life, our protagonist finds his dreams filled with forests and fields brought to life by a unique friendship. It is in these dreams that he finds her-his beloved and most meaningful friend-but the make believe is fading. "Half Awake" follows the final nights of their friendship, the laughs and fears of a boy's path to a better reality. A reality we all must face.

Auditions this SATURDAY (Boardwalk at Morris Bridge
theatre)
This Saturday, we will be having open call auditions
for the upcoming Johnny and Mini film. The auditions will begin at
noon and will be at 8650 Boardwalk Path Drive Tampa, FL 33637 in the
apartment complex's theatre. Below is a character breakdown. Anyone
interested should e-mail us to receive a copy of the script.
The character breakdown is as follows:
Johnny- age 25-39
He is a writer and a womanizer. Currently, he is engaged to Mini, but
he is feeling the pressure of her needs and is secretly disgusted by
her. He is love with New Orleans and the many things that is has to
offer.
Mini- age 20-35
She is delusional about love, its prospects, and Johnny. She goes
against her instincts and foolheartedly trusts Johnny because she
wants love so bad. She considers herself proper and classy, and Johnny
considers himself real and gritty.
Samir- age 30- 45
Samir Baron is based on voodoo lord Baron Samedi. He is quick with the
tongue and very charming. He is a buddy of Johnny, and he loves the
sexuality of women.
Mary- age 35-53
She is based on Voodoo mistress Marie Laveau. She is a Madame for the
New Orleans scene and exerts a strong sexuality herself.
Leucosia- based on one of the sirens. She is pure sexuality, and she
is the main attraction of Johnny. She is a symbol for the allure of
all New Orleans.
Bouncer- any age, just big
He is the bouncer outside of the Spotted Cat night club
Cabbie- He offers a warning to Johnny and Mini as he drives them into
the French Quarter. He is very intelligent and a lover of literature,
but he is tough and seemingly dangerous in Johnny's eyes.
Bum- Any age. Long, mangy hair
He sings prophetic songs to Johnny and Mini about the dangers that
they will be facing. He seems wise, but he still has all the
deplorable characteristics of a bum, which one could argue negates all
of his wisdom.
Young dancer- age 12-18
She is very young and is an apprentice of Mary.
Voodoo Man- age 25-50
He is a disgusting looking man that offers Johnny his escape from
Mini. He is a practicer of New Orleans voodoo
