Map as Art
Sunday, March 29, 1-4pm Artists drew the first maps, and now in the 21st century more and more artists are turning to maps for a source for their art practice. In this map workshop you will explore maps for their drawing, painting and sculptural potential. Exercises involve mind mapping with words as well as using actual maps as a surface for your work. These activities include working with drawing materials, watercolour paints and collage elements. Instructor: Wendy Welch Cost: $65 (materials included)

VISA FACULTY NEWS
Tara Nichsolson received a BC Arts Council Grant to fund her upcoming project in Greenland. This summer she will be travelling to Greenland to visit the Arctic Research Centre. She will be documenting climate research and the international scientific study taking place. Tara will be photographing the landscape and infrastructure at the centre and she will be collaborating with researchers already working in Greenland.
Jeremy Herndl received BC Arts Council grant for research and development of methodology for painting outdoors and has been recently awarded the 2015 Brucebo Summer Residency on the island Gotland, Sweden. June 1st to September 1st. And he will be part of a group exhibition, New Perception at Winchester Modern in April that includes Neil McLelland and Heather Keenan.
Neil McClelland has had two recent solo shows at the Vernon Public Art Gallery, Vernon, BC and Xchanges Gallery, Victoria, BC and will be in a group exhibition, New Perception with Jeremy Herndl and Heather Keenan at the Winchester Modern in April (date still to be determined) .
We are very proud of our great faculty and all of their ongoing achievements and recognition in the contemporary art world at large.
