Bring on the lavender
As part of our continuing school beautification project, we have now begun the landscaping along the front perimeter which includes a wonderfully scented row of robust lavender plants.
Xane St Phillip is working on the design for the painting of the front entrance area. We hope to commence the painting of this area by October 1st. The design of the building is based on razzle dazzle ships of the first World War to tie the design in with the era when the building was built (1921). As it turns out we are also right in sync with contemporary fashion as can be seen in today's Globe & Mail.
All these improvements to the building an surrounding property are very expensive.
Please help us celebrate the 10th Anniversary of our art school by contributing to the the Beautification of our Art School & City crowdfunding campaign. In addition to receiving a perk for your donation, we will also provide you with a tax-deductible receipt.
To date we have reached 1/3 of our goal of $10,000. The $10,000 was a low ball estimate of the entire cost of the beautification program and the costs will likely exceed this total so we happily accept a donation of any amount to help with the project.

Watercolour Play Workshop
Sunday, September 21, 1-4pm
This afternoon workshop introduces you to watercolour through two fun exercises. The first is inspired by the work of Wassily Kandinsky and takes an abstract expressionist approach with the focus on brushwork and unconscious gestures.
The second exercise, inspired by Paul Klee, is based on using a grid to create a more formal design. The work of Kandinsky and Klee, as well as contemporary artists using watercolour, will be shown. The focus is on 'play' as opposed to making finished paintings. You will learn how to hold the brush, how to mix colours and how to have fun by just making marks, shapes and simple compositions.
Suitable for beginners.
Instructor: Wendy Welch
Tuition: $65.00 (3 hrs)
