Truths about art

Art can make you happy. Whether it is in the making of it or in the looking at it, art can not only make you happy, but it can also enrich your life and make you a more interesting person.

Art is something everybody can do. Bring on the people who say 'I can only draw stick figures', or the 'I can't draw a straight line'. Newsflash: stick figures have charm and there is no need to have straight lines in drawing.

Art can make you friends.

If you don't believe these facts, I recommend you consider one of my upcoming courses: The Confident Creative or Making an Art a Practice and you will find that not only can you make art, and you will also want to make art all the time. Or maybe you don't necessarily want to make art, but you want to experience the pleasure you can get from looking at art, then the course called 20th Century Art: Sixty Artists to Know would be a good choice. And whether you come to make art or learn how to look at art, VISA is a great place to meet new people and make friends.

For more on how art is for everybody, listen to my radio interview with CFAX's Adam Sawatsky: Eye on the Arts (scroll down to Eye on the Arts, hour 1 and go to the 30 minute point to get straight to my interivew).

I'm off to Europe next week so stay tuned for newsletter reports from abroad.
