Farm Credit Marks 98 Years of Service to Agriculture & Rural America
July 17th marked the 98th anniversary of the establishment of the Farm Credit System. In 1916, the U.S. Congress established Farm Credit to serve as a reliable source of credit for the nation's farmers and ranchers. The network of borrower-owned lending institutions remains a sound and vital resource for rural America today.

About 40 percent of the dollar volume of outstanding loans to U.S. farmers and ranchers comes from Farm Credit. The federally chartered network is comprised of 82 privately owned institutions, including four wholesale banks and 78 direct lending associations that operate in every county in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

N.C. Ag Sales Tax Revisions

In response to farmer questions, the NC Department of Revenue has published a Frequently Asked Questions document regarding the recent legislative changes to North Carolina's agriculture sales tax law.  The document describes the specific tax documents farmers may use to prove their eligibility for a "qualifying farmer exemption" and provides other important information.

Click here for more info and a link to the document.

Click here to read a letter from N.C. Agriculture Commissioner, Steve Troxler that addresses the farm sales tax exemption.

Our Nation's Heroes in Agriculture
Heroes are among us. There are military men and women who have served our country that have chosen agriculture career paths. However, there are many more service members who are not even aware of the wonderful opportunities the agricultural industry holds or how their military experience may transfer into a worthwhile and meaningful career in agriculture.

Ag Warriors, from  AgCareers.com, connects military men and women with career opportunities in agriculture.
