It's almost spring...

Spring has arrived early this year.  This means fishing will be very active at the opening of the season!  Since the ice has just gone out, May is a great month as the fish are hungry and biting aggressively.  June is a very popular month as the water is still cold and fish are being caught in large quantities.

The only availability we have for the opening of fishing season is:  May 22-25 (two cabins), May 27-31 (one cabin) and June 8-13 (one cabin).  If any of these interest you, please contact us.  There is a larger selection of available dates in July, August and September.  It's not too late to plan your trip!

At this time of year, plans are in full swing for the upcoming season.  We'll be taking care of you with our seasoned staff and a few talented new faces.  Meet some of them below...

Carol
I am a free spirit who is always up for any adventure. Feeling fortunate to be retired at just 60, I am still always looking for ways to keep busy. I love the outdoors and especially being by water (I'm an Aquarian), and feel like I have been given a gift to spend it working at Duck Bay Lodge this summer.

I love, love, love to spend time with my grandchildren;
I think I love gardening and will forfeit this summer to see if that is in fact true. And I truly love reading, sketching, sewing and quilting in the cold Manitoba winters.

And, of course, lucky for you, because I'll be spending time in the kitchen, I love cooking and making delicious food!

Craig
Professional Guide
I was born in Kenora, Ontario (on Lake of the Woods) and lived most of my life about twenty miles north of Kenora.  I spent many hours on the areas fresh water lakes, fishing by boat and float plane with my father.

I am the owner of a Telecom Company I built since 1993, which I operate during the winter months.  My hobbies are mainly outdoors  activities;  fishing, hunting, hiking, swimming and camping, snowmobiling and ice-fishing.

My first job at a fishing lodge was as a dockhand and guide-trainee  and later I was with various fly-in fishing lodges.  I have now been fishing  in North- Western Ontario for over 40 years. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and having an exciting summer at Duck Bay Lodge.

Anne-Marie
Hi there! My name is Anne-Marie and I am now entering my second year in Agronomy at the University of Manitoba. As you can tell by my degree, I absolutely adore plants and of course nature.

I've been spending my summers at Lake of the Woods since I was about nine; both as a canoe tripper at Camp Stephens and a resident. I've always loved the lake and so it made complete sense to work here as I got older.

I look forward to spending my summer in one of the most beautiful places in the world and ensuring that you will love this area as much as I do!

Book now for the early season!  You'll never regret the quality time spent with friends and family.  Our perfect setting, terrific fishing, exceptional staff and first-class resort will have you wanting to return year after year.
