Easter picnic
setting up the food for the Easter picnic before the crowds arrived

In March we volunteered to head up food service for our church's annual Easter picnic. Together with 20 volunteers, we served lunch to about 900 people in only 3 hours.  Cooking for just 25-30 guests and staff will be easy!

Growing up in Southern Ontario, my family spent most of our summers up north cottaging in the Muskokas.  Some of my best memories happened by a lake.  Since I love ATVing, boating, swimming and wake-boarding, I live for the summer months!

Eventually I might like to study cinematography, but having interests that range from art history, to literature, to Victorian fashion, I haven't been able to decide just yet.

This year I'm making a big move from the city I've lived in for most of my life, to Winnipeg right after the summer.  I can't wait to work with and get to know everyone at Duck Bay Lodge.

Victoria Clifford

Hello, my name is Victoria.  I grew up on our family farm near Rainy River, with my mom and dad, as well as my brothers and sister.  With the many adventures on the farm I also participate in high school sports such as hockey, soccer and basketball.

Last summer I worked as a camp counselor at a day camp teaching the children basic camping skills and creating different events and activities.  I am graduating from high school this June and starting a culinary course in the fall.

I'm looking forward to spending my summer on the lake and getting to meet new people!

My name is Kayla White, I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  I`m in my third year University looking to take a year off and travel before I finish my degree.  I have played soccer at University level for three years along with various other leagues of soccer.

I love being active and participating in marathons.  Always enjoy sharing a bottle of wine with my family and friends!  Look forward to working at Duck Bay Lodge for the summer!

This past year I finished my General BA in French, Spanish and German.  I also began a degree in Computer Science, but I'm not really sure exactly what I want to focus on in that field yet.  I've also been taking a Korean class this past school year which has been lots of fun!

I enjoy cooking and do a large part of the cooking in my family.  I also love to read a lot of different books and enjoy a variety of different language films and television shows.  Since my trip to China about two years ago I haven't really been anywhere very interesting, but hope to remedy that in the future.  In the meantime, I'm looking forward to a great summer!
