Community Foundation of Greenville
This month we are happy to Spotlight Community Foundation of Greenville. The success of the Community Foundation has always been defined by the tangible benefits they deliver to the people of Greenville County. Through our donors and an exceptional network of local organizations, proud to help great things happen in Greenville.
Mission:
The Community Foundation of Greenville enhances the quality of life in Greenville County by linking philanthropic leadership, charitable resources and civic involvement with needs and opportunities in the community.
We make it easy to give back to the community. The Community Foundation offers several fund options that are simple to establish, cost-effective and personalized to help donors support charitable causes that are important to them.
Here are some of those ways:
Unrestricted Funds: Gifts to the Community Foundation that are unrestricted allow us to respond to pressing and often changing charitable needs in the community. The Board of the Community Foundation oversees the use of these funds and determines how grants will be distributed.
Donor-Advised Funds: These funds may be established by individuals, families or companies who wish to actively participate in the grant-making process by recommending charitable projects or nonprofits they choose to support.
Endowment Funds: An endowment is a permanent fund that provides dependable, perpetual income to support charitable causes or nonprofits chosen by the donor.
Field of Interest Funds: These funds support specific focus areas such as arts, education, human services, health or the environment, without limiting grants to any specific nonprofit organization.
Agency Funds: Funds that provide support to a nonprofit organization may be established by the organization itself or by donors who wish to support one or several specific nonprofits. These can be established as either endowed or non-endowed funds.
Scholarship Funds: These funds may be structured to benefit students at any education level or for a specific institution. Foundation staff manages the administration and ensures a fair and independent selection process.
