This month, we are proud to highlight our company president, David Carson. When David says he was born into the office equipment industry, he literally means it. Herb Carson started Plus Inc. in 1958, the year that David was born. Growing up as a little boy, David would spend many hours playing at the office, and as he got older, he would help with chores. To David, being at Plus was like growing up on a farm; since he was always around the business, the business became a part of him.
David has spent his entire life in the Upstate. He went to Wade Hampton High School and to Furman University. Because of this connection, his favorite part of the job is being a part of and helping in the Upstate community. This connection is also why David still spends 95% of his time working directly with our customers. David remarks, "Building relationships with customers and employees is one of the most satisfying things that a person can ever do."
Another great factor that David is proud of is that Plus Inc. has remained locally-owned. He explains, "To me, being locally-owned is such a great benefit. Being local allows our customers to always work with someone right here in our office for service issues, billing questions, and supply needs. Our customers always get to work with a Plus employee and all of our money stays here. When you do business with Plus Inc., we're putting all of our money back in the Upstate market."
David loves his family, and it's a huge family. David is quick to tell you, "I am married to the perfect person--Gina." David and his wife have seven children between them, ranging in age from 18 to 27. All of them went to Blue Ridge High. They will have 4 in college this fall. They also welcomed their first grandson Creed in April of this year and have another due in November. David and Gina both love spending time together and doing things with the kids and their extended families and friends. David and Gina are very active with Blue Ridge High School and Taylors First Baptist Church, and David is active with the North Greenville Rotary.
