Employee Focus--Cheryl Gray

Manager of Inventory Services

 Cheryl

This month's employee focus is on Cheryl Gray!  Cheryl is our Manager of Inventory Services.  Did you know that all of Plus Inc's part and supplies are warehoused locally?  Cheryl makes sure we have everything in stock to keep our customers from having any down-time.  She purchases Plus Inc's parts and supply inventory and manages the restocking of all of the computer and copier techs' inventory.  In a constantly changing technical world, Cheryl understands the need for keeping the right products in stock and the importance of getting them to our customers in a timely manner!  Cheryl has implemented multiple programs that keep our purchasing and warehouse systems running smoothly which have helped eliminate shrinkage costs.  This helps us pass savings on to our customers!

Cheryl in Her Own Words:

Favorite thing about working at Plus Inc.: I have been in purchasing and inventory management most of my career, and I like the trust Plus Inc. has in me to work independently to do my job properly.

Passions: I am passionate about team work.  I don't believe a single individual can make a company successful, I believe it takes a group effort.  If you are open to another co-worker having a better understanding about your job or your department, it will ultimately create a better understanding of the inside workings of a company.

Hobbies: I like hiking and spending time with my granddaughters.  I also like exploring small mountain towns.

Favorite Recent Events: In the past two years, I have gone to Spain and Italy and hope to continue to travel out of the country every couple of years.

Future Goals: I want to jump out of an airplane and plan on doing that soon!  I also want to go on a road trip across the United States.

If you have any questions or comments for Cheryl, please feel free to contact her at [email protected] or 864-242-9090.

Common Computer Security Mistakes (Is this you?)log in screen

Computer security is a continuous battle of good vs. evil.  Stealth hackers use complex programs and technology to try to get at your business and personal data.  Sometimes their tools and savvy lead them all the way to your locked computer or server.  Imagine if this was a burglar approaching your house.  The door is locked so you're safe, except you left the key taped to the door or there's a combination lock that uses a code of 1234 to unlock the door.  You wouldn't do either of those things, would you?

The truth is that employees do the equivalent of taping that key to the door or locking it with a code that is very easy to guess on a daily basis.  If you write down passwords, then you need to lock them in a desk or file cabinet.  A password written on a sticky note attached to your monitor, under the keyboard, or anywhere else near the computer is an invitation to get into your data.  The second common mistake is using very predictable passwords.  Avoid using common names, birthdays, sequential numbers, telephone numbers, addresses, etc...Try to keep them at least eight characters long, use a mix of letters (both upper & lower case), symbols, and numbers.

Plus Inc can help your efforts to stop hackers by installing firewalls, virus & malware protection, software security updates, and other security technologies.  Unfortunately, all of these protection techniques can quickly become useless if password best practices are not followed.
