February 17, 1920 - Lufkin Industries founded in East Texas
In Lufkin, Texas, the Lufkin Foundry and Machine Company is founded as a repair shop for railroad and sawmill machinery.
When the timber supplies in East Texas begin to dwindle and the sawmill business declines, the Lufkin Foundry & Machine Company discovers new opportunities in the newly burgeoning oilfields.
February 17, 1944 - Alabama Oil Discovery
Alabama's first oilfield is discovered in Choctaw County when Texas oilman H.L. Hunt drills the No. 1 Jackson well.
Hunt's wildcat well reveals the Gilbertown oilfield. Prior to finding this discovery, an incredible 350 dry holes - noncommercial wells - had been drilled in Alabama.
February 19, 1889 - Ohio acts to Conserve Natural Gas
The Ohio House of Representatives enacts the state's first petroleum conservation measure - "an Act to prevent the wasting of Natural Gas and to Provide for the plugging of all abandoned wells."
February 20, 1959 - World's First
LNG Tanker arrives
After a three-week voyage, the Methane Pioneer - the world's first liquefied natural gas tanker - arrives at the world's first LNG terminal at Canvey Island, England, from Lake Charles, Louisiana.
February 22, 1923 - First Carbon Black Factory in Texas
Texas grants its first permit for a carbon black factory to J. W. Hassel & Associates in Stephens County. It has been discovered that carbon black dramatically increases the durability of rubber used in tires.

EWN Congratulates Our Most Recent Graduates!
Part of the training for the Master Evaluator Certification Program (MECP) is reviewing an actual performance evaluation. In the picture to the right, Rocky Baker of All American Safety is working with Geoff Isbell, ENERGY worldnet, Inc.'s COO, to demonstrate how to do a structure-to-soil performance. Geoff is holding the evaluation sheet as Rocky explains the procedure using the simulation materials provided. This class was held February 12 in the Cecil Woods training room in Decatur, Texas. Rocky gave an excellent review of safety procedures in doing his testing.

On February 19, Geoff Isbell, Chief Operating Officer of ENERGY worldnet, Inc. conducted MECP classes in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The classes were held in the Corbett Center on the campus of New Mexico State University. The men pictured below are all the recent graduates. The following day, David Avalos and David Apodaca from the University and Ramiro Pereyra from the City of Las Cruces also attended the Basic Administrative classes taught by Geoff Isbell.

MASTER EVALUATOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
The Master Evaluator Certification Program is an evaluator/proctor course that provides participants with the principles for conducting effective evaluations and provides opportunities to apply these principles by practicing them in a comfortable environment. This is achieved by discussing individual testing techniques and performance observation techniques; reviewing various Operator Qualification Plan Evaluation requirements; and by providing practice using actual evaluation tools. Upon completion of this course, participants will understand the requirements of 49 CFR 192 and 195 as it relates to written and performance evaluations, know how to prepare for an evaluation, know how to perform an evaluation and know how to properly document an evaluation and maintain records.

BASIC SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR TRAINING
The System Administrator Training Course provides designated OQ plan administrators and/or supervisors with a hands-on review of the EWN system and prepares them to effectively manage their OQ program utilizing the ENERGY worldnet system and services. This is achieved by discussing the overall layout and navigation of the EWN system for Operators and Contractors; reviewing the features and functions of the system and assisting with the set up of custom options and settings; and by providing practice using actual functions, tools, and processes.
