Support Groups: Simple, but Mighty
by Cortney Schlueter, LMHP, LADC
Director

Once a month adoptive and guardianship families in Nebraska are getting together! The more parents and kids that attend the more fun we all have! We were thrilled to recently add 3 new groups at parents' request and have requests for more. Groups are offered over the lunch hour and in the evenings to accommodate as many family schedules as possible.

For groups offered in the evening, families have the opportunity to share a meal together and then the parents get a little grown up time while the kids enjoy playing with other kids under the supervision of Right Turn staff and volunteers. Really! Dinner is made, child care is provided, and you get to spend time talking with other parents! Enjoy it! . . . Read More

Common Misconceptions Regarding Sexual Behaviors in Children

by Christine Bowlby, LMHP

Training and Education Coordinator

 Parents Need Support Too

Parenting has been described as one of the most rewarding and one of the most challenging jobs on earth.  Parents have actually laughed a little when the topic has been mentioned of finding ways to make sure they are taking care of themselves, filling their own bucket, or whatever you want to call it.  Who has time for that?

When parenting children who have experienced so much trauma and loss, this can be especially needed and especially difficult to do. Parents are often required to be on their toes all of the time, nurturing their children, addressing behaviors, trying to avoid triggers, cooking, cleaning, driving to appointments, etc., etc.  No matter how hard we try, we are not super humans.  Right Turn is always seeking ideas and resources to try to boost your almost super human strength and we found one in our own back yard.
