Greetings!

Our entire team at the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IR/PS) is busy finalizing the planning for Mexico Moving Forward: 20 Years of NAFTA and Beyond.

The daylong event begins at 8:30 a.m. on March 6, 2014 at the Sanford Consortium Auditorium with opening remarks by IR/PS Dean Peter Cowhey, UC San Diego Chancellor Pradeep Khosla and University of California President Janet Napolitano.

Mexico Moving Forward is a celebration of the transformational power of the extraordinary achievements of leaders committed to the future of Mexico. For the event, we have put together four great panels as well as a musical performance, an art exhibit and samplings of Mexican cuisine.

In the first panel of the day at 9 a.m. we will hear reflections from business leaders and scholars on NAFTA at 20. During the 11 a.m. session on art and culture, we will hear from contemporary artists.

In the afternoon we look to the future, with a 2 p.m. panel on reform composed of speakers from top think tanks in Mexico and the United States. And in our last panel of the day at 4 p.m., we discuss opportunities to link Mexico to other Pacific-region economies through new global trade agreements.

Please visit our Mexico Moving Forward website for the full agenda and to register today. If you are unable to attend, you can watch each session on our USMEX website live during the event, as we will be streaming the entire day. Interact with us on Twitter as well, tagging @USMEXUCSD and #usmexMMF.

Warmest regards,
