It's almost the middle of the summer and you want to paddleboard in a nearby lake or river. It's time for a field trip! But how do you transport your paddleboard?

We put together this video for you. It covers how to use our Riverside SUP car top carrier. Sorry for the sound quality, it was really windy the day we took the video.

Farther down this newsletter, we have packed it with oodles of links to get you planning where to go.

The Riverside Paddleboard Carrier is the original soft rack for transporting your SUP. The car top paddleboard carrier is an easy to use, affordable and won't harm the roof of your vehicle.

This rack is easy to install and requires no tools. Fits all vehicles except convertibles and can carry 1 or 2 boards. It has a very clean appearance and works on vehicles with or without a factory installed roof racks.

We don't like metal racks on top of cars. Metal racks are difficult install and remove, are expensive and stay on top the vehicle loosing you gas mileage. The Riverside soft car top SUP rack is easy to use and removes when you are not using it. At only $72.95, a real bargain.

Here's a few of the local places we like to paddle board.

The Hollows. A 22 acre lake located off Rt. 14 between Cary and Crystal Lake. It's one of our favorite places to go and totally FREE. Parking too. Go all the way to the back of The Hollows to Lake Attwood. The water is crystal clear, plenty of wildlife, has a lagoon and island to venture around.

The Fox River at Buffalo Park off Rt. 31 in Algonquin, is another place we like that is local and FREE. We always head up river to the dam and then turnaround and coast down river on the way back. About an hour trip on the water. But venturing down river is fun also. Lots of twists and turns

Another is Riverfront Park just north of Port Edwards restaurant in Algonquin. Enter in the boat launch ramp at Edwards Street. You have a wonderful no wake area to paddleboard with plenty to see. Venture up river and see the homes and people sitting outdoors. We've met some interesting people on our journeys. Going in and out of the channels on the river is fun also. On Thursday evenings in July and August, Algonquin has Concert in the Park so you can listen to live music while you're on the water. Come on out, you'll see us there.

There are a number of boat launches in Kane County Forest Preserve Parks to access the Fox River. (Use the Boat/Canoe Launch filter on the Find a Preserve page.)

To use the Fox River as well as the Chain of Lakes, above the Algonquin Dam to the Wisconsin State Line, you will have to contact the Fox Waterway Agency to purchase a User Sticker. But there are miles and miles of waterway to explore as well as some great restaurants to stop in for a break.

There are a multitude of bodies of navigable water here in Illinois. Check out this list of the lakes in Illinois
