Newsletter - April 2013

Greetings!

New stock this month includes a run of very nice early production (1960's) Polish wall lights with domed prismatic glass, some unusual British cast-iron pendants by Revo and a bit of a blast from our past with some nice opaline glass pendant lights salvaged from a Welsh chapel.
And we're currently stoking the fires of British Industry with a high quality re-make of one of our best ever selling lights. It's been over a year in development but the Trainspotters 'French Streetlight' is very nearly with us, hitting the website within the next 2 weeks.

Mill update - Work on our new mill progresses steadily, the latest development being the shotblasting of the stone walls in the Victorian warehouse space to the rear of the complex. When we took possession of the mill this space was partitioned off with damp plasterboard corridors and ineffective tarpaulin roof repairs, and little of what we now see was visible. Today's shotblasting has revealed the original cotswold stone walls in all their glory, off-setting beautifully the original multi-paned Victorian windows (which we are also restoring). A fascinating discovery is the small carved cross on a stone on one of the inner corners. Perhaps a Victorian stonemason's blessing on the building, or an early bit of salvage from a nearby church? Any architectural historians out there please advise.

A Recent Project ....

Poppies, Camden

We first came across these guys when we did the Trainspotters pop up shop in Spitalfields last summer, indeed we dined there regularly as they were at the end of the street. A simple concept executed perfectly, the traditional chippie injected with a bit of style and with impressive attention to detail. The new Poppies venture in Camden features a load of our white enamelled pendant lights, salvaged from an MOD facility in Scotland, as well as some of our classic prismatic bulkhead lights.
