Newsletter - March 2013

Greetings!

Springtime is fittingly a time of new beginnings here at Trainspotters.

After a winter of uncertainty and uneasy wranglings we have finally managed to secure
ownership of the historical mill building that adjoins our existing showroom.

Dating in parts from the 1500's New Mills is a shadow of its former prosperous self, having ceased
activities as a woollen mill back in 1898, since when it has been allowed to slowly dilapidate.

We inherit a fascinating fusion of a building, incorporating everything from early stone blockwork to
bodged 1970's concrete add-ons, none of it maintained and most of it leaking.

Like kids in a sweetshop we are excitedly underway with scraping away the layers of neglect and are slowly revealing the gem beneath.

Months of work lie ahead, please do call in to see the work in progress if you are passing.

New stock this month includes some nice dinky-sized pendant lights from a Polish mine with polished aluminium casings and really nice decorative prismatic domes.
On the dinky theme we also have a big haul of never-used glass and porcelain pendant lights recovered from the storerooms of a Hungarian glass foundry.

A Recent Project ....

Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Newcastle

Our communist fluorescent tube lights were used in this latest GBK venture in the Metro Centre, Newcastle , UK. We fitted the lights with steel wires on 'splitters', enabling them to be hung pendant fashion in a random cluster. Another project by our friend Matt Cole at Arc Lighting Design. http://www.arc-lighting.co.uk
